His initial training was at No.4 Initial Training School (4 ITS) at Victor Harbour in South Australia
Australia's promise to support England, at the outbreak of World War II, dramatically changed the social structure, and Eric Langlois' career required rethinking. On August 16 1941, he made the decision to join the Armed Forces and enlisted in the RAAF at No.5 Recruiting Centre in Adelaide.
From No.4 ITS he was transferred to No.1 Elementary Flying Training School (1EFTS) at Parafield in South Australia and, after then successfully completing his training there, was transferred to No. 6 Service Flying Training School (6SFTS) at Malalla, South Australia.
