Mission summary:
"Eleven of our aircraft were tonight ordered to attack the town of Syracuse, the pilots being:
Sgt Chandler experienced engine trouble and returned early after jettisoning the majority of his bombs in the sea. Weather was good with perfect visibility due to a full moon and all crews were able to identify the areas of the town and accurate bombing ensued. Every crew was able to say that their bombs fell in the target area. There was slight heavy and light flak and four searchlights were operating. All aircraft returned safely."
